Simple flower

This is a 3D flower with four petals made from the four corners of the paper.

Folding

Make sure to mark all creases sharply.

  1. Start with the outer side facing up.
  2. Mark the two medians sharply by folding the paper edge to edge, and unfold, in each direction.
  3. Turn over the paper.
  4. Mark the two diagonals sharply.
  5. Use the marked creases to bring the four edge centres together and flatten the model using the existing creases only to form a flat,right angled isosceles triangle with two points to each the left and to the rigt.
  6. The points will become the petals.
  7. Rotate the flower to have the right-angled corner downwards.
  8. Flip the two petals in the right side to the left, gathering the four petals together.
  9. The right edge is vertical. The right-angled corner in the top right will become the centre of the flower. The pointy end at the bottom will become the stem.
  10. Fold the two top petals back to the right, but in a pointy, skewed angle. The closed edge of the petals ends up horizontal, orthogonally to the stem. The creaseline starts in the centre of the flower and proceeds in an acute angle downwards to about 5 mm left of the stem edge.
  11. The stem can be seen as a small triangle at the boottom and extends upwards behind the two petals we just folded over.
  12. Turn over the paper and fold the two other petals over, on top of the two first petals that now are on the left.
  13. All four petals now point to the left. The stem is in-between the petals, with two petals on top and two below.
  14. Hold the stem, in the smal triangle protruding at the bottom.Flip the petals around to form a cross when seen form the above. The stem remains flat.
  15. Each petal forms a pocket. Open that pocket with an index finger. It should open all the way to the pointy bottom of the pocket.
  16. Press the tip of the thumb into the centre of the folded edge of the petal, all the way into the stem. This stabilises the opening fo the petal and provides more shape.
  17. Do this with all four petals.
  18. The flower has been finished.
